How did you start? My family has been climbing together for as long as I can remember.

What kind of climbing do you prefer? Sport climbing is my favorite but I also like bouldering.

Describe the perfect day: Sunny but cool weather. Perfect for sending. Frozen yogurt afterwards.

What have you learned from climbing? That training hard pays off.

What significance does climbing have in your life? I spend most of my Saturdays at the crags. It’s what I do for fun.

Are you afraid to break bones? No.

Are you afraid to die? Not at all. I’ve learned to trust the gear.

What did your mother say when you started climbing? “What are you doing on top of that dresser?”

What does your mother say about it now that you’re jet-setting, rich and famous? “Please help set the table for dinner.”

What’s your favorite food? Frozen yogurt.

What are you driving? A push-scooter from Wal-Mart.

Do you watch TV? No, but I watch DVD movies on weekend evenings.

Do you climb competitively? No.

Why? I don’t live near any climbing gyms.

Do you climb indoors a lot? I climb in a shed lined with plywood, but that’s the only indoor climbing I do.

Does it make you stronger or weaker? Stronger.

What other activities do you participate in? I play a lot of soccer. I participate on the Holbrook swim team. I water ski and I play the piano.

What’s the hardest sport you’ve tried? I’m terrible at bowling.

How much do you travel? Not very much.

What’s the most under-hyped area? Chuckwalla. It’s so fun!

Do you train your weaknesses or your strengths? Both.

What is the best thing about being in a photo shoot? I don’t know because I haven’t been in one.

What advice would you give to someone that wants to be a professional climber? That’s the sort of advice I’m looking for.

What’s your favorite BlueWater product? The Dominator.

Why? It’s light and durable at the same time.

Accomplishments: I climbed my first 5.13 when I was nine, and earned a red ribbon at the Navajo County Fair for homemade whole wheat dinner rolls.
